The T2 Solutions Fire Alarm Safety Isolator Switch (Red) is a BS5839-1 compliant mains safety isolation switch designed specifically for use with fire alarm systems. It provides a secure, tamper-resistant method of isolating the 230V AC mains supply to fire control and indicating equipment (CIE) — and is equally suitable for security systems, access control panels, and other indicating equipment requiring a dedicated mains isolation point.
By switching both Live and Neutral simultaneously via a double-pole mechanism, it ensures full mains isolation during maintenance, testing, or emergency situations. Access is restricted to authorised personnel only through a key-operated lock switch, with the key removable in both the ON and OFF positions to prevent unauthorised re-energisation.
Key Highlights
- BS5839-1 Compliant — Meets the requirements of British Standard BS5839 Part 1 for fire detection and alarm systems in buildings

- Supplied with 2 Keys — Two keys included for initial commissioning and key storage
Where It’s Required
British Standard BS5839-1 requires that the mains supply to a fire alarm control panel is provided with a means of isolation that can only be operated by a key or special tool, and is clearly labelled “Fire Alarm — Do Not Switch Off”. This isolator fulfils that requirement and should be installed adjacent to the fire alarm control panel at every new installation or upgrade.
